For every child, the right to a Voice

The situation of children and young people in the State of Palestine continues to be shaped by protracted conflict and deepening humanitarian needs and related response. The security situation is volatile and unpredictable both in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. In this context, UNICEF State of Palestine’s response includes a strong footprint in the Gaza Strip and across the West Bank, including east Jerusalem.

How can you make a difference?

You are accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring advocacy and communication related strategies and associated products and activities. The goal is to target and influence relevant audiences, including the public, to build child rights champions, by promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for children’s and women’s rights, and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities and programmes in the State of Palestine and at a global level, as well as among the UN Country Team.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

- Education : Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations.

A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant area combined with 2 additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree in the field of journalism, communications, external relations, public affairs, public relations or corporate communications.

- Work Experience : Minimum five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media.

International and national work experience (for IP). Field work experience (for NO). Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.

- The role requires strong skills in communication strategy, digital content, media relations, networking, advocacy, and monitoring and evaluation.

- Language Requirements : Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

- Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

- Previous experience with the United Nations or other international organizations.

- Proven experience in humanitarian and emergency communications.

- Strong expertise in digital media, content creation, and online communications.

- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Appointments are conditional on the selected candidates willingness to comply with current or future vaccination requirements, should UNICEF mandate it for personnel. Failure to comply with such requirements, where applicable and without a duly approved medical exemption from the relevant UN authority, will result in the cancellation of the selection or may lead to other administrative measures, including separation from service.

As per Article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.
